There must be more books on knot tying than any other subject – YM’s library contains no less than 28! That said, this book ranks among the best: clear diagrams and easily indexed chapters guide beginners through coiling and belaying before introducing stopper knots, bends, hitches, lashings and bindings.
There’s plenty for the more experienced too, and the splicing section is worth the price alone, dealing with modern ropes as well as traditional fibres. The authors are both members of the International Guild of Knot Tyers, so should know a thing or two about things knotty.
